San Antonio Pool Pavilion

Water gurgles from a small limestone basin set within the inner courtyard of an old San Antonio House. The basin was realigned to orient guests to a new axial canal descending from the inner courtyard and terminating at a new pavilion. The new structure reinforces the Moorish influence of the main house.

The full extent of the interior becomes apparent after penetrating an arcade of stone columns supporting masonry groin vaults. Upon entering, the primary axis terminates beyond a second colonnade embracing an intimate Inglenook. Pivoting to the west, water cascades from a dozen bronze spigots within a stone wall at the base of the hillside where a small amphitheater has been cut into the hill. Upon ascending, the source of the water is revealed within a spring fed tank at the edge of the woods near the summit. To the east, the topography descends to a palm-lined pool court.
