Rock House

Two narrow rustic limestone structures, containing bedrooms and utilities, present a stoic facade and protect the interior garden and public spaces from the west sun and heavily trafficked streets. The stone rubble construction is a response to the neighborhood’s vernacular garden walls, which are constructed from material harvested on site. Drifts of indigenous trees and understory have been planted to re-establish the native landscape. The primary entrance penetrates the north structure, revealing an organic flow of public rooms, cloistered around an east garden and pool terrace.
